8 minutes on foot
Dinner before a gig at the Effenaar
Eight minutes from Dommelstraat. Doors at half seven, so the timing works out.
Venue / stage
Natlab is at Strijp-S, a quarter of an hour by bike from the centre. We are on the side you pass anyway.
Natlab is Eindhoven's arthouse cinema, housed in the old Philips physics laboratory at Strijp-S. Four screens, a programme heavy on European and international film — including screenings with no Dutch subtitles, handy if you have just moved here — plus theatre and comedy on the main stage.
From Kerkstraat to Kastanjelaan is nearly two kilometres, which is close to half an hour on foot. By bike it is seven or eight minutes, and buses 401 and 402 do the job as well. Natlab also has its own café-restaurant, so we are not going to pretend we are the obvious place for a bite ten minutes before the film starts.
Arriving by train at Eindhoven Centraal and heading on to Strijp-S? You walk right past us. Going into town after the film — Stratumseind, the Markt, a bar — same thing. For those two moments we are exactly well placed: on Kerkstraat, in the middle of the centre, open every day.
Seen an afternoon screening and got hungry? We are here right through the afternoon, including the hours when the rest of the city is between lunch and dinner.
